As the year comes to a close it is a good time to reflect on the highs and lows of the past twelve months.
Over the last year there have been several key events which have changed my prospective on my working life.
Firstly, at the beginning of the year it was obvious that the company that I had worked for for the last 12 years was not going to survive the resession and so from January t March all our time was taken up with the administration of the company. A very sad time for all the employees and the owner, but we all pulled together and managed to go into redundancy with a certain amount of optomism.
The second moment of clarity was when I decided that I was now in a position to try and make a go of it on my own. In hind sight, one of my best decisions.
The third thing I can take from 2009 was the decision to start networking. The decision not to go down the mainstream route of BNI but to stick with a new, dynamic and then unproven group of networkers has proved an execellent choice. Not only have I gained work within the group I am now finding that I am getting enquiries via the network of businesses that I am contacted with.
In the late summer as my new business started to flourish I suffered a catastrophic blow by being involved in a serious car accident. The effect on my confidence was devastating and I considered jacking the whole thing in. However, there was so much support from my fellow networkers I managed to pull myself together and with their support slowly got my business back on track.
As the year comes to a close my little business is heading in the right direction.
There are many people to thank for all their support and help. So here goes.
My heartfelt thanks go to:- Steve Wilkinson, Peter Ayers, David Phillips, David Metcalfe, Karen James, Kaz Terry, Linda Eatwood, Jim Old,Tony Slimmings, Kushil Amlani, Gerrard Humble, Andrew & David Auton, Steve Gallon, Tony Wilson and any other newer members of A1 Networking.
